Status Update - 1:00 p.m. 13 January 2022

Edison has been working to repair the damaged pole through the day without affecting Colton power.  The work has now reached the point that Colton substation will de-energize at approximately 1:00 p.m. for the repairs to be completed safely.  This will cause the loss of power in the areas south of the Santa Ana River, including Cooley Ranch.

Repair work will continue through the afternoon and if not completed by end of day, power will be restored and work will continue tomorrow.

7:30am  Update - 13 January 2022

In continuation of yesterday's outage, all power was restored overnight, however Edison will return today to repair the damage to it's equipment.  Because of it's proximity to the Colton substation line, the city's circuit must be de-energized for safety.  This will affect power south of the Santa Ana River, including Cooley Ranch, starting at approximately 8:00 a.m.   At this time, it is unknown how long repairs will take.

Once work has been been completed by Edison, Colton power will be restored.

12 January 2022 – Power Outage Update – 7:30 p.m.

At approximately 2:15 pm, an Edison power line went down near M Street and Mount Vernon causing a significant power outage in portions of central to southeastern areas of the City of Colton.   Edison lines cross over Colton power lines and when the line/pole fell it caused damage to Colton lines.  The cause of the downed line is still unknown.

Edison crews are on scene currently removing cables which are affecting the Colton lines and causing the outage.  Once that work is completed, Colton crews can begin to work on restoring power, one circuit at a time.

We do not have an estimated timeframe at this point.   Crews will be working through the night until resolution.

As updates become available, they will be posted here.
