The Downtown Colton Paseo represents more than just a physical structure; it signifies progress, growth, and a brighter future for our community.
The Paseo is the first public component of our 2016 Downtown Plan, which encourages a mix of pedestrian linkages, and gathering spaces to encourage walking, bicycling and use of transit. The Plan includes two proposed paseos, one of which is this former pedestrian alley, often referred to as “Fireman’s Walk.”
With assistance from Assembly Member Gomez-Reyes, the City secured a $600,000 grant from the California Resources Agency in 2018 which has covered the majority of the construction costs. The full project cost was $745,743.
We anticipate that this improvement will serve as a “spark” to initiate revitalization of our downtown, and serve as a gathering place for our community.
COMING SOON IN SUMMER 2024
The Community Services department is gearing up for exciting and enjoyable community activities at the Paseo in Summer 2024. Stay tuned for more updates and details!
