Jack R. Woods was first elected to office in December 2016, as Council Member representing District 5.  His four year term of office is through December 2020. 

Council Member Woods makes himself available to constituents residing within the Cooley Ranch and Reche Canyon areas.  Other boundary areas span to the west by State Route 215; to the south along Reche Canyon Road and up to the Riverside County line; to the east by Hunts Lane; and to the north by the Interstate 10.

He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired Police Officer.  Although he had no prior intent of running for any political office, he was actively engaged in civic duties by having served as a City of Colton Commissioner on the Planning Commission and the Code Compliance and Housing Appeals Board.  His professional career spans over 30 years of holding managerial positions, directing legal defense matters, direct involvement in police officer training standards; oversight and adoption of apprenticeship standards and safety standards.  He also authored portions of the Application of Force Procedures for Police Ordered Compliance Protocols and Techniques.  

With careful consideration and the encouraging support of his friends, family and members of the Colton community, paved the way to his successful election as the District 5 Council Member.  Given his background, extensive training and years of experience in law enforcement and military operations, he states, "I am well prepared for the rigors of holding public office".  Council Member Woods is committed to interactive communications with his constituents.  As a Member of the City Council, he shares in the responsibility of overseeing the stability of city finances and ensuring economic and development projects serve to enhance the quality of life for all citizens and businesses of this community.  He also represents the City of Colton as a Member of local, regional and state agencies, boards and committees.
